Who we are

What we collect, and why

Newsletter subscribers. If you subscribe, we store your email address, a timestamped record of your consent and its source, and your subscription status. Lawful basis: your consent, collected by double opt-in (we email you a confirmation link; you are not subscribed until you click it). You can withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email.

Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for security and reliability. Lawful basis: legitimate interest in operating and securing the site. Logs are retained on the provider's standard schedule and not used for profiling.

Editors. A sign-in cookie is set for site editors only. Readers are never signed in.

We collect nothing else. No advertising trackers, no analytics scripts, no social pixels, no fingerprinting. Fonts are self-hosted — your visit sends no request to Google or any other font network.

Where data lives

The site runs on Vercel (hosting and server logs). Subscriber records are stored in Neon (managed Postgres, AWS us-west-2, United States). If media delivery is enabled, images are stored in Amazon S3 and served via Amazon CloudFront. Each provider processes data under its own data-processing agreement. Data is processed in the United States; if you are in the EEA/UK, transfers rely on the providers' standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and similar laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict processing. For subscribers that data is your email address and consent record — email [PRIVACY CONTACT EMAIL] and we will act on a verified request within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA, and we honor Global Privacy Control signals.

Changes

We will post any changes here with a new "last updated" date. A material change to how subscriber data is used would be announced to subscribers by email before it takes effect.
